Each of the characters was complex with likable and dislikable traits. The different, redeeming sides of each character drew me into them.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13450553614069666459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4517593569609859056.post-47023379514384940992010-11-07T11:11:56.236+00:002010-11-07T11:11:56.236+00:00Great character review here Jenny and I agree with...Great character review here Jenny and I agree with you. I also felt so sorry for Queenie in giving up her baby and she knew it would be the best thing for him but it was the whole coincidence thing that irritated me with it being Michael's baby etc.
The book really showed up people's foibles and how they really had to rethink their original perceptions. I wish we could have found out what happened to Celia though - did she have a decent life in Jamaica after all?Lornahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02015109751334088807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4517593569609859056.post-64916443851501806322010-08-01T22:31:30.862+01:002010-08-01T22:31:30.862+01:00Jenny, that happened me last month, I can totally ...Jenny, that happened me last month, I can totally understand. I figured there were loads of books out there I'd enjoy so much more & I would go enjoy them. I wrote a bit about it over on my blog if you want to see it. just about sums up my feelings on it. Got hopelessly lost with the characters and couldn't face the effort it required to continue with it. Back with Barbara Kingsolver's new book and loving it! And the Poisonwood Bible to be revisited for July is a delight.
All the best, Catherine.Catherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16116884676266268214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4517593569609859056.post-83520317840101486562010-07-12T15:37:13.146+01:002010-07-12T15:37:13.146+01:00HI Jenny, and there I was thinking you had finishe...HI Jenny, and there I was thinking you had finished it! Corrigan was too good to be true for a priest, more like a monk or hermit.
I have followed your blog now, as you are new to the blogosphere if I see when you signed up - though you may have had another website I don't think I visited it. Sorry this comment is so late!
Catherine.Catherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16116884676266268214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4517593569609859056.post-71262617784446861222010-06-07T00:24:37.928+01:002010-06-07T00:24:37.928+01:00bloggers book club...sounds like a great idea! the...bloggers book club...sounds like a great idea! the cover reminded me of sisterhood of the traveling pants : psssdawnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09511468349016162150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4517593569609859056.post-47574734012424658182010-06-06T17:30:30.076+01:002010-06-06T17:30:30.076+01:00Hi Jenny, I was beginning to wonder was I the only...Hi Jenny, I was beginning to wonder was I the only person in the world who didn't like the book and thank goodness for that, I was wondering was I missing something.
